Golf Club Coffee Machine

Raising the standards of your golf club’s coffee

Just like a golfer has to use their best judgment to pick the right club for the right golfing situation, the owner or operator of a golf club has to use the same kind of judgment when selecting the right coffee machine for their club.

And just like you can’t choose a super-expensive driver if you want good results in your short game, a high quality espresso machine will not automatically be the best solution for your particular coffee situation.

Which type of machine?

Most golf club owners know that there will be super early bird golfers who will want to get at their morning coffee long before your staff will want to be up and running the machine, so it is generally ideal for a golf club machine to be self-service, or at least to have a self-service option.

You can either set up a machine with a coin system or an i-key system so that customers can prepay. You can also get machines that can be both staff operated during the day but also converted into a self-service machine for after or before hours.

Fully automated vs traditional

There is no doubt that a traditional espresso machine will look really sharp and draw your customers in with the promise of authentic and professional coffee; however, without highly trained staff who know how to use machines like these correctly, your customers may be less than impressed by the end result.

Accordingly, if you don’t expect to have an experienced barista on hand at all times, then your fancy espresso machine will essentially be a waste of space. An automated machine, though perhaps less impressive looking, will actually serve much better coffee if you don’t have well-trained coffee staff.

Alternatively, it is possible to get a hybrid machine that will give you the best of both worlds. For instance, the Amore 1 uses pods so that you don’t have to worry about proper grinding or dosing, but as the same time is still a traditional espresso machine.

Other things to consider

After deciding what kind of machine will best suit your needs, you should begin to think about how many servings of coffee you expect to produce each day. If you don’t expect a high number of coffee orders, a smaller, cheaper machine can still produce a great cup of coffee.

However if you expect to have a high number of orders then you will need a more heavy duty machine that can keep up with the demand without overheating or wearing out. Some other final considerations include the amount of space you have for your machine, and whether or not the machine’s appearance blends in with your existing decor.

Service and maintenance

No matter how high end your machine is, at some point it will break down and require professional service or repairs.

Accordingly you will want to establish a relationship with a dedicated maintenance company who can respond quickly and efficiently to a break down to limit the time your machine is out of service. Also please remember that you can save money by getting a used espresso machine, but you may end up having to pay more in the long run for service and repairs on an older machine.

Get a consultant

It can never hurt to get an experience company to help you out in the decision making process if you are new to the coffee world, and a good coffee company will be able to provide you with a free consultation to help get you pointed in the right direction.

They might even be able to provide you with some samples from the machines you are considering so you can taste the results first hand.
